Winter Camping- Trip reports?

Sadly I don't have anything current, but I'm planning a trip for late Feb/early March to hit the BWCA again. If we don't get anything current, maybe we can post some past photos to get the gears turning.

I'm not really interested in facing 20 below zero while winter camping, but it has to warm up sometime.

I have stayed in my Eskimo 949I Fatfish thermal pop-up a couple times this winter while ice fishing LOTW. I also bring my QF 6 to keep cover my sled and gear(also doubles as the bathroom) I bring a generator, extra heaters, and plenty of fuel. I can tow my Otter sled with all my gear behind my snowmobile. I put reflectix on my cot with a thermal pad under my Snugpak Anarctic sleeping bag which is rated to -50F. I have interlocking foam pads on the ice except where my holes are(like the kind you put under a threadmill) I use a fan to circulate the heat. Never had a problem.

Most important piece of equipment is a CO2 meter with good lithium batteries. It takes some planning depending on your mode of transportation.

Some think I'm crazy with all the set-up/take-down especially since I have a wheelhouse, but the solitude is priceless.

Always let someone know where you will be just in case.
