Vexilar Fish Scout pros and cons

I see FF has the Fish Scout 800 on sale. I have a FL 18 and would like a camera to go with it, don't want to spend a lot of money on one. Any opinions on this unit would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the 2000 with Depth direction and temperature and it is great the 800 is the same unit but it doesn't have depth directionand temp, and has less cammera cord.

800 is black and white only, 2000 is both color and B/W, plus has the Depth Temp Direction.

The 800 isn't only black and white... it is color until low light conditions. Having the compass, depth and temp would be nice to have, but I don't feel that it is an almost $300 option worth paying for. I use mine (800) all the time to watch the fish behavior or to scope out the fishing areas. I would say worth every penny.
