Hello all, I'm new to ottertail lake and am heading up there with a buddy Thursday night through sat night. I'm looking for the fishing report up there? Basically what depth are the walleyes being cought, and any tips on color and best times to fish are greatly appreciated!

Also the water is very clear. In 10' of water we could see the bottom easily and that made it a lot of fun. Saw lots of perch, walleyes, northerns (sometimes huge ones) and even eelpout swimming by. Weather didn't seem to matter much. Caught fish even when 20 below. The perch usually saved the day..

Just fished ottertail yesterday with my dad and we had a pretty decent day. Fished on the east edge of Grandpa's Island and spot fished for perch. Really had to pick through the hundreds of small ones but ended up keeping around 20 jumbos. We caught our first walleye spot fishing around 11am and it was real cool to watch them come in and take our bait (buckshot tipped with just head of a fathead). We kept 4 eyes on the day and released a 22" and fishing seemed to be the best on the flat when the sun was out. Also saw around 8 northerns. When fishing the edge of a break line make sure you can see weeds on the bottom, if no weeds keep moving.

Shiners might be good to use in the early mornings or evenings but we were just using a jigging spoon and the head of a fathead. Didn't use a dead stick till dark since the perch wouldn't leave them alone. Several times we had 2 or 3 walleyes come in and chase the perch off then the fishing was really exciting trying to get the eyes to bite. Crazy catching walleyes in 9 feet of water in the middle of the day but we were very mobile and moved probably 8 times with our snowmobile and flip over.

Yeah that's what I'm missing is the snowmobile. We will be dragging a permanent wheelhouse out. But I will also have my one man flip over so I will be able to do a little bit of moving with ease. I was thinking of trying to set the house up in about 22 feet of water? And then using my portable to move around in the middle of the day between eight and 20 feet of water.

Yes, I would set the wheel house up a little deeper on some mid lake humps. There are plenty of little humps off Amor point that can be really good at night. During the day your best bet would to be mobile and try and find large perch and have the occasional walleye or northern come through.
