Fishing hours on Sat. at designated trout lakes/ponds.

Just looking for a little clarification regarding the trout opener on Sat. I understand that fishing legally begins at 1 hr. before sunrise, but can you drill holes and get your fish house erected and ready to go before then or do you have to wait until the 1 hr. before sunrise to do anything so you can't be accused of poaching or fishing out of season? Haven't done any "combat fishing" as one person called it a couple days ago so I want to make sure I don't violate any rules. Sure would be nice, though,to have the house up and warm before the action begins. Any help would be appreciated.

ill have everything setup and ready as well. sit in a warm house or if possibly chat with others and be fishing as soon as its legal.

heck they should do a shotgun start really lol

but yes, the wardens will be out and about checking. i've seen them goin from house to house checking to see if anyone is fishing ahead of time

so ive never done this before, but plan to partake this year, what does one use for gear to catch these? I hear they fight like mad, and can be anywhere from just under the ice to the bottom of the column. I plan to show up and drill a bunch of holes but wait till 1 minute after to start fishing. figure this will give the area time to calm down as well.

a good wally/jiggin rod.

as for presentations, i've caught on them on alot of difference setups

when i first started i used just plain hook/bobber setup baited with sum euros, waxies, salted minnows or powerbait "trout eggs or the stuff u mold onto the hook"

sumtimes i switched out the plain hook for a colored one or sumtype of jig. like a moonglow, ratfinkee, ratso, ice ants....

now i like to chase and jigem more using smaller buckshots tipped with euros, minnow head or trout powerbait. ive done ok on jigging raps also

dont be alarmed if your not marking fish, cz alot of times theyre just cruising and i've caught many fish w/o ever see them on the flasher.

personally i'd start n shallower water say 6-10fow and fish about half depth until i can get a feel for what depth theyre crusing at

good luk and hope this helps
