2012 Dodge Ram wasnt blowing heat ???

Big A

Question

So without getting into a Dodge/Chevy/Ford debate.... I was hoping someone would have some insight on what the problem was.

Last weekend I left LOTW in -25temps. Truck was idling for well over an hr before leaving the lake. It was blowing cold air. Drove into Baudette with no change. All temp gauges were normal. Hoses all warm under the hood.

Looked under the engine and it was packed with snow from a few drifts that i took down out on the lake whistle

Pulled truck into a heated garage for 10 minutes and hit under the engine with some hot/warm water.

Problem solved.

So ultimate question is.... what in the heck was the problem??

Any ideas??

In the ducting that the air coming into the truck runs through are several doors that control exactly where the air goes, like down near your feet, the panel, or defrost. They also control whether the air goes through the heater core, or at least whether the hot air gets into the truck. (you don't want it if it is July and 95 out). The doors open and close to properly direct the air. If snow and stuff gets in there it could cause the doors to stick in an undesirable position, like closed when you want them open.

In the old days they used to be operated by engine vacuum. I'm not sure about these newfangled cars that they sell these days.
