What is the ideal lake type, n set-up,on that lake for u guys?

I myself have had the best luck on smaller(200-300) or so acre lakes that only get 20 -30 ft deep. I try n set up in 8 ft of water on the closest point near the deeper water. Been really productive.

How about u?

First off welcome to the HSO family Spearguy84.

My favorite lakes are the ones that has a river that runs into it specially if it has flooded a few years in a row. Those pike come out of the river and grow quick on tall the panfish they eat.

I like a point that breaks into deeper water typically set up in 6-8 fow if there is weeds all the better. mostly I search for the baitfish/panfish and that puts me in the close areas where the pike are.

Thanks for the welcome. I was so pumped when I was writing my very first post that I forgot to mention I was a newbie. I've learned just about everything I know about spearing from this spearing site. Very helpful bunch on here. So glad to be a part of it finally.

Welcome Spear Guy 84 best thing you can do is go to bottom of the main spear bowfish page and just hit the back arrow and page backwards years of useful information and interesting stories and pictures. I do it whenever I get bored even though I have speared since I was 14 years old and I am in my 50's now. It's a great relaxing way to watch the underwater world go by or get dinner. Finally my 26 yr old is starting to go with me growing out of the x-box age. Sometimes we just sit together and chat or listen to radio and stare at the decoy. Good times for father and son.
