Chad Holst
I know everything is dependent on what you are putting IN the ice house, but trying to get a good idea on what to expect our Wheel House to weight. If i was with-in 500lbs of actaul weight that would help, as we are talking about what vehicles to put the brake controllers in.Heres what we have:8x 16 + 4' V Nose. Steel frame from Team Lodge. 3x2 Tube steel. 3 hand crank winches and full wheel system with brakes. Full 8' walls from bottom of tube to bottom of ceiling rafters. (8'9" tall)2x2 studs (2x4 corners)2x8 rafters (16 on center)3/4 inch treated plywood floor7/16 sheeting board on outside and on roof.Rubber roof.063 smooth aluminum sheeting exterior.2 feet of diamond plate around exterior bottom2x2 90* diamond plate around all corner, edges roof corner and door.Fully diamond plated wheel wells.Car siding entire interior. (pine)Foam board insulation on wallsfoam board AND fiberglass insulation in ceiling 1 small wall/door for bathroom.2 deep cell batteries1 oven/stovefront cabinets made of pine1 folddown bed framed in 2x4 and surfaced with 7/16 sheet on each wall(2)1 fold down bed in top of rear1 drop down table and benches in rear for 4th bed. (pine, 2x2 and 2x4)2 x 40lb tanks1 20k btu furnacePower converter32" TV/ Satalite/recieverCar stereo 4x speakersCarpetingSmall portable toilet with built in bench for toilet seat.Approx. 4 feet of laminated counter topApprox 8 feet of laminated shelving 10" wide.Again, it know its gonna be hard to be very specific, but im simply trying to get a good guess on the finished weight so we can get the correct tow vehicles wired up with tow controllers.Im really hoping to be able to pull it with my jeep cherokee, on short local trips when the raods are good. its rated for 5k pounds (93 cheap jeep with cooler on it) but i dont know that i would want to push that too close.Anyway, i hope thats enough info to get a good estimate from. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

B-man715
Two of my buddies have 8x17 IC RV editions. I think they said they weigh right around 6500#. That is with the hydraulic frame, sinks, shower, toilet, Roof AC, holding tanks etc. I would guess you are at least 500 pounds lighter than that? You wouldn't catch me pulling your shack with anything smaller than a half ton. EDIT: I see you have 7/16" sheeting on the outside with car siding on the interior...... That's gonna add A LOT of weight
Gus
I have an 8x20 Salem Ice Cabin. On paper it weighs in at 4600#. It is a BEAR to pull with my 4.7L V8 Dodge Dakota.
Chad Holst
I was thinking you guys would say that and i was also afraid you would say that. Better to know now than to spend $100 a pop to wire up vehicles that wont pull it down the road. Right now, without the inside finished, the Cheap Jeep pulls it fine, but i wouldnt want to be on the highway with a 15mph + cross wind. however the other night the jeep woke me up, slapped me, and said "stop doing that"...or that could have been a dream, not sure.\Merry Christmas everyone. outkast7222
I have an 8x20 Salem Ice Cabin. On paper it weighs in at 4600#. It is a BEAR to pull with my 4.7L V8 Dodge Dakota. I used my mother in-laws 4.7 Dakota the other day to pull my 8x16 castle and I could hardly do 55. Got about 110 miles on the whole tank. Can't wait till there is enough ice to use the diesel to pull it out.

I pulled my tandem axle house with my 08 ford half ton ranging from 60-65 and got 8-8.5 and I Normally pull it with my one ton deisiel but I was presently surprised on how well that trucked pulled it.. however I would no way pull it to devils lake I drive to Minot nd a lot and the weather conditions up there with the wind no way. My half ton loaded scaled at @6700#
Lip_Ripper Guy
Between the OSB and the .063 siding, you've got a lot of extra weight compared to an Ice Castle of comparable size. I'd say you are going to be at or near 5500#. Maybe more. It may not be a bad idea to check your tire ratings to be sure they'll be adequate. My previous single axle frame came with tires that were only rated for like 1700#.
