GPS help!!

TrapMan13

Question

While I'm using my garmin handheld unit the arrow indicating direction and position keeps spinning, facing the wrong direction, or it turns half cocked and points with the side of the arrow instead of the tip. I recalibrated it multiple times now ... What else can I do?!?!

Thanks!

What model do you have? Does it have the latest firmware?

I know some of mine would do that when I'm stopped but as soon as you take off and cover a little distance, they start tracking just fine again. If you don't have the 3 axis compass built in, the device needs to move to know what's where.

The 60 has the electronic compass, I would try the GPS with the electronic compass on and then try it with it off to rule out any failure in the compass sensor. With the electronic compass off, the GPS will use the signals to navigate to a waypoint, you just have to start moving which it won't take long for the 60 to know where you're going.

Otherwise, I would still check to make sure you are up to date on the firmware for the 60.
