I just bought a Strikemaster drill bit, LPD-8. How do I know it is the correct one?

Hello,

I just bought a Srikemaster Auger drill bit (drill only not the powerhead), 8 inch drill, LPD-8. I looked at the blades (tipped the drill bit upside down and looked) and it didn't say Mora of Sweeden on the bottom of those blades as well as telling how many inches the blades were.

The drill bit also had a Yellow Sticker that goes around the drill bit from top to bottom....

My 10 inch auger bit I bought a few years ago (came with the powerhead) said Mora of Sweden on the bottom of the blades and it also showed 10". There is also no yellow sticker going from top to the bottom of the drill (sort of like Jiffy's). It does, however, have a sticker on it that says Strikemaster.

Is this normal? Did I get the correct drill bit, LPD-8? Reason I am asking is because I wanted to ask and make sure it is incorrect before I send it back.

Thanks in advance.

I got a new 10" last year, it had mora stamped blades and a mora of sweden sticker on the bit. No yellow sticker at all. The rapala site shows stamps and mora stickers pretty well too.

If you don't mind, where did you get it from? I'd guess old stock; if it was Mora of sweden, I can't imagine why that wouldn't be prominently labeled.

I have that exact one you described. Mine is the 8" lazer shaft with the yellow line going around the auger. The original blades I had on it were NOT Mora blades. One blade broke within 30 holes of the first use. I called the place I bought it from (D Rock Ice Center) and they sent me brand new Mora blades for free!! Talk about amazing customer service. Other that that hiccup, it is a fantastic drill. I like the yellow, gives it some originality.

I've too just recently bought one over the holiday wknd and its an LPD-5. Checked out blades and no stamp of where its made too. Also the blades doesn't look like the lazer blades with the teethes, its just smooth like the hand auger blades. Plus the shaft has no center point. The shaft bolts right on to the head with no problem. I emailed them (RAPALA) and no reply from them yet. So does anybody have or have seen an 5" shaft with or without a center point and does all 5" blades come like this?

As for MIDCOAT, the shaft with the yellow sticker is from the strike-lite models. I don't know the differences from a regular lazer shaft and the strike-lite, but I think it won't matter. It may just be a design for the strike-lite power heads. Also heard the china made blades are the bad ones so the good ones are the mora/sweden ones.

Thanks for all of the replies. This is my 2nd auger, first was an Eskimo, and so I was confused because I don't know too much about augers.

Yes, the drill bit I received looks just like the one that comes with the Strike Lite II.

Okays, so now I know it does belong to Srikemaster.. Anybody knows if that is good for a Solo Lazer Pro powerhead (3HP)? I am just wondering what the difference is if there are any.

I wonder why the original Strikemaster blades from Sweden wasn't on it instead of the ones that are probably from China... Hmm..Must be a new thing with Strikemaster?

I think you will be fine with it. If you do have an issue with a blade, then you can try to contact Strikemaste or look for the Mora stamped ones. Like I said, I purchased that same bit from Strikemaster's shop a couple years ago when I exchanged my synthetic bit for that one and I have not had any issues and I cut a lot of holes.

What bit are you replacing on your Lazer Pro? 10 inch?

I believe that before Rapala bought Strikemaster, the original owners made the switch. Rapala bought Mora so they could rectify the situation and make things as they should be.
