brake is stuck

Recommended Posts

I have a 1989 ford f250 plow truck for my property. I was plowing today and noticed something smelling hot. tracked it down to a front brake being stuck. The thing is, a couple years ago, the brake lines blew out completely. the truck has ZERO brakes. Not a big deal for me, it's strictly a yard truck, solely used for plowing snow. What might cause this, and how can i get it unstuck? I'm not sure if it's been doing this since the brakes went out, but for whatever reason I noticed it today. I would love to get a nice V plow for my dodge diesel, but can't afford it!!!! So for now, i need to get the brake unstuck on big red. Thanks

Probably not. My guess is you'll have to take the wheel off and remove the caliper. I'd pretty much bet money on it being the caliper slides. They seem to give the most problem. Take a wire wheel or brush to it then grease it good, but don't be sloppy with the grease.
