good pair of hunting boots

Recommended Posts

I'm a Mukluk fan too but most people don't consider them affordable. The next time I'm at the big C store I'll be checking out the Inferno Pac boots and Trans Alaskan Pac boots. I've also seen models in the catalog that come with forms of battery heat that seem better than the old electric socks.

I believe the pac boots are running around $130. I doubt you'll find a good quality, honestly warm boot for less than that.

I don't mind spending a little extra when it comes to keeping my feet in good shape. They make wandering possible and I only get one pair to last my whole life. wink

Mickey Boots! Military deal. Froze my feet badly when I was younger on a rifle hunting misadventure. Feet were black on the bottom and they have been sensitive ever since. I have muzzleloader hunted in -42 in Cook Mn., without getting cold feet with the Mickeys. They are a bit bulky and heavy, but the rubber insulation is amazing and you can get them for 35 to 50 bucks a pair. If you are walking for miles, they are probably not your deal, but a mile walk or ice fishing they are great.

I just paid $139+ tax for a pair of Muck Woody Max from Gander Mt in Lakeville. I havent worn them yet, but a couple guys in the group have them and just rave about them. They are supposed to be good from 60F to -40F. Pretty light boot and water proof all the way up is a big plus. No laces either.

Before that I had LaCrosse Ice Kings. If the liners are good your feet will never ever get cold. I finally retired mine after 7 years of very hard use.

I love my LaCross Ice Kings for the really cold days. Only bad thing about them is if you plan on a lot of walking. They are heavy and you feel it quickly. Also a lot of bulk of climbing up tiny tree steps.
