Nils bit on Solo Powerhead?

Has anyone ever connected an 8" Nils bit to a solo powerhead? If so, what kind of modifications did you have to do to make it work? Realistically, I would like to buy the auger with the Tanaka powerhead, but I have a good solo powerhead lying around and would like to use it if I could, instead of spending the 650. I know that I could just go buy a lazer bit to put on it, but I would like to use the Nils if at all possible.

I have an 8" Nils bit and a SM Solo powerhead. Been wondering the same. But haven't gotten up the energy to look into it putting the two together yet. Curious as well. It would be just as an experiment, I'd probably keep with the SM powerhead and the SM bit in the long run as I like how clean the hole is with the SM.

Ice Gator does have the adapter for 30 bucks. They do have to bore it out slightly to fit the Solo. They also said it will work well, but will not spin the bit nearly as fast as the Tanaka.

I agree as from my experience you're not gaining speed but will lose speed by doing this. Plus by getting a Nils auger you now have to deal with slush filled holes. It will work but wouldn't be worth the hassle.
