Eric Wettschreck
I'm replacing the frame (long story) under my wheel house. I have a question for yous guys who have built your own frames. I'm using 2" cold rolled round for the pivot, and 3 x 2 tube for the spring arm. What do yous guys use as a bushing on the pivot arm where it goes around the pivot shaft? Also, where did you get said bushings?I'm drawing a blank on this bushing part.Thanks.
efgh
If you are on good terms with someone who has a lathe have him turn your bushings out of a piece of 2-3/4 in. cold roll steel or go to a machine shop.
jsr426hemi
Here is a pic of the arms I built. I to used a 2" rod for the pivot point. I found oiled bronze bushing from mcmaster. It had a id of 2" and an od of 3". Had a machining business tap a hole in the end of the pivot rod for a 3/4" bolt to hold everything on. Even used a clamp collar between bushing and bolt washer. There is another bushing on the other side of the arm as well.
