eyedr
I don't know how this will go over. I have been deer hunting all my life but I recently got started bow hunting. I went out to visit my wife's grandmother a few weeks ago and purchased an archery tag. Well as luck would have it I didn't get to fill the tag. I will be coming to my Inlaws who live 20 or so miles NW of Madison for Christmas . Right now I am planning on trying out some public land near by. I will be trying to hunt the public stuff without having been to the places. What I'm looking for is either any info on the public land or if someone has a property that needs doe management. I'm just looking for meat and to get my first deer with a bow, not to shoot anyone's trophy. I'd love to fill my tag and meet some new people in the process or get any info I can on the public stuff. I know it's a long shot but I thought I would just see. Thanks!
ZachD
That puts you pretty close to Devil's Lake State Park I believe. I would check into that When ever I hunt state land I have never been to I usually study google earth maps and try to pinpoint a couple places I would want to hunt go out and hunt them change up the game plan once you get out there if you want. Here is info on it and a hunting reg map http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/Lands/naturalareas/index.asp?SNA=97 http://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/pr/PR2070.pdf Good luck! Cheetah
Good luck, deer numbers are down quite a bit in the areas I hunt in WI. Too many 'herd control' tags for too many years.
