nesdicefishman
I recently upgraded and purchased a new Jiffy auger and now I want a nice auger mount for my ATV. I have a 2004 Yamaha Kodiac with a windshield. I would like to mount the bracket on the front of the atv opposed to the back. I have been looking at the Mad Dog Mount and the new Clam Mount but I can't make up my mind as I'm only able to look at them online. So far it sounds like the Mad Dog Mounts are nice but the Velcro can be a pain but I'm not finding much for reviews on the Clam Mount yet. I also would like to stay in the $50 to $60 range as I also purchased a new shack : ) I would appreciate any advice from any of you. Thanks in advance for your help!! Ryan_V
Had my mad dog mount on my wheeler for 7 years so far, no issue with the Velcro. I recommend the mad dog. holds solid, I even leave the auger on the wheeler when trailering to mille lacs, about 2 hours away.
castmaster
8 years on my Mad Dog and still works great. I prefer these over the Digger as the weight of power head is actually very well supported instead of hanging out off the end. Guess like most things it will come down to how you use it and what your needs are. For me, I spend a fair amount of time running rough trails to backwoods lakes so the extra support on the power head is a plus to me. If your just running on the ice, the faster stow and deploy of the Digger mount might be best for you.
Surface Tension
I'm on the ice to test blades everyday of the week and means the auger is racked and unracked over and over. I'm also changing blades when doing so and need a rack that is fast and secures the auger with every change. For me the digger rack does that. No messing around, one latch and your done and you don't need to take your gloves or mitts off. There is a supplemental bracket to support the powerhead. Hardwater_Fan
Here is a homemade idea that I saw on a forum somewhere (not my rig). Looks pretty simple, cheap and customizable. Since it's made out of wood, you can screw or mount all kinds of things to it. Get one of those vertical rod holders for in the boat and attach to the side for easy access to your rods. Lots of things you could do!
Thorney
I just put this Kolpin mount on my rig. I cant offer a review but I sure like how easy it is, and how it holds the auger in front of the atv allowing me to use the front rack. Looking forward to trying it out!!
