clam travel covers?

just bought the clam nanook and thinking of buying a cover. will this cover stay on in a open truck top. i dont have a topper or cover and are they really worth it. thanks

I have the bigger Voyager and mine stays on very well on the back of my open snowmbile trailer on the free way. I will say that I did almost lose it once when the cord inside the edge broke. They wear out after a while. I bought some new cord at the HW store and feed it in and it's better then new.

never had my Yukon in the back of the truck, but I have gone 80+ mph (groomed bomber trail) across the lake with the cover on an had no issues.

They fit pretty snug, so I don't think you will have an issue with it blowing off. I normally have mine under a topper, but have had it in a trailer and up on the back rack of my wheeler. Haven't lost one yet! They keep the snow and slush from getting inside the sled and getting anything you are hauling in the sled from getting wet or falling out during transport. I definitely think they are worth the money!

Never say never. Had a friends Clam Voyager on the atv trailer coming back from Devils Lake. Apparently the flapping caused one of the zippers to start working its way open, and then ripped it right out! I stopped as soon as I saw it wasnt looking right, but the damage was done.

Its a nice feature to be able to get at stuff in the sled without taking the cover off, but its a weak point when it comes to high speed travel.

They are snug and you travel be sure to put it under the lip of the shelter and you will be fine. I have a cover for all the shelters and have had good luck.

I throw a strap across my tub when it's in the back of the pickup just in case it would ever come off. It hasn't but it's real cheap insurance.

I probably should have added the shack I mentioned was strapped down with 2 ratchet straps. The cover wasnt in danger of flying off, just ripped the zippers out.

Ripping zippers out? Are you talking about a travel cover or the ice house shell? There are no zippers in a travel cover. Just a bungy that holds it on around the edges.

I had a nanook thermal with the clam cover, they fit very nice and snug and you won't have an issue with it blowing off UNLESS you don't get the bungee around the lip of the sled itself. As long as it's all the way under the lip of the sled you're good to go.

The cover on my friends Clam Voyager certainly has zippers on it. They are there to access items in the sled without removing the cover. Its a light gray cover, not the blue ones.

Not a Clam guy myself, so maybe it was a one year thing or something.

It must have been another brand or after market? I think Frabill has zippers on their's?

No it was a Clam travel cover. Made for the Thermal X, X2, X$ and Voyager TCX.

Do a search on the big c stores site for Clam travel sover and you'll see what I am talking about.
