Suburban funace problems

boXCar JiggY

Question

Have a new wheel house, hasnt seen ice , have it in my yard an getting to know it. we decided to cook supper in it last night,Ques. 1. firred up the furnace but had to hit the reset button on the furnace. I open valve, adjust thermostat, an hit reset on the furnace. I was told by dealer I have to open valve an set thermostat an good to go. Is it wired this way, not a hughe deal but not what I was told.

Ques. 2. Funace runs great, come to cook, cant seem to get pilot light to light, maybe air in line, but not for as long as ive tried to get it to light. We fired up top burner, an was cooking and after a few minuets, the furnace made a click an top burner flame staed to fluctuate up high an down low, an furnace had kicked off with that inital click an was blowing cold air.

Good freind an I tried to diagnose the prob by brainstorming, not pinched lines that I could see, tanks are full forties, I have only one line coming from one tank but its a duel set up, not double, just have to quick couple over to the other tank. COuld it be a presure problem on the regulater? theres a presure control adjustment right? My freind had to go, an he suggested to just try the stove an see what happens.

I turned off the furnace, lit all three burners on high an as i was trying to light pilot light again, all three burners drop to very low flame an stayed there. I shook my head an went inside an had a beer. Any Ideas be side taking back to the dealer an buying a lodge insead, any help would be great thank you.

Dunno if it's the same thing happening, but sometimes my gas grill has little or no flame if...

1. Haven't used the grill for a while

2. Have had the gas tank shut off for a while

3. Open the tank valve quickly

Seems I recall reading there is like a flow shutoff valve either in the tank or in the tank connector/coupler that cuts back or shuts off the flow if a big rush of gas tries to go out quickly...like perhaps to fill up an empty system. It thinks there's a big leak.

Again, don't know if that's it, but easy enough to try shutting off the tank, decouple the line, then reconnect the line and open the tank valve very slowly.

The tanks have the OPD valve that not only helps prevent over filling but the valve will also shut down if it senses to much flows of gas ( like a line bursting). This valve can enter this mode if the valve is opened to fast. If it is tripped close the valve and wait a couple minutes. Then open the valve really slow.
