WMA crowds

Deer hunting WMA, As far as any trails go, does it make a difference if you are willing to walk the trails a long distance to a spot to reduce crowd traffic or is that wishful thinking? Thought being that no ATVs allowed people aren't as willing to make the long hikes.

Depends where the WMAs are.Around my area deer hunting a WMA or WPA is tough really tough for deer anyway!!! Pheasant hunters,duck hunters are walking them constantly here in west central Mn.The deer normally go nocturnal,Long before firearms season!!

In the heavily pressured WMA's i find deer in the areas that 90% of the hunters don't go...Thick cattails. Honestly, they don't have to be far off the road either.

IMO if you can find fresh beds in heavily pressured ground, don't hunt those beds. Find the thickest cattails close to those beds and start walking.

I should clarify that this would be WMAs mainly in the north woods where deer hunting is the main game along with grouse of course. So you wouldn't be dealing with pheasant or duck hunters, all deer hunters.

Doesn't matter where or what type of hunters. The obvious way to increase your success is to get away from crowds or where the crowds don't go.

Check the rules,many WMA do not allow stands to remain overnight.
