gac12
Hi guys I am very ignorant when it comes to outboards but I got a question that I am sure many of you will know the answer to right away. I have a 15hp Evinrude four stroke that starts and idles just fine but when I go to open it up it dies right away. Sometimes I am able to run for a little bit before it dies but it always seems to die very shortly after hitting top speed. I would guess that it is not getting gas for some reason but then again I am very ignorant and it idles and runs at slower speeds just fine. Do you guys have any idea what could be happening? Thanks for all your help in advance and I really appreciate it.
boatfixer
1st thing that pops into my mind is a dirty fuel filter. Could also be loose fuel line connector, tank not venting (bulb would be sucked flat). Could also be restriction in carburetor (if that were the case, I don't think it would even get to wot)

BoxMN
Mine was an old 2 stroke, but I put the float in upside down when I rebuilt the carburetor, and it did the same thing. Boatfixer and others here helped me figure the error of my ways My guess is bad bulb or hose (pin holes or cracks somewhere), though.
