Where does a guy go?

Hey everyone,

I am new to the area (lakeville), and I was wondering where a guy could go to shoot some waterfowl. I have driven around and cant find a place where one guy could go and be successful.

Also, if anyone wouldn't mind a tag along to show the ropes sometime shoot me a PM

Sometimes the best thing to do is just ask! A lot of farmers could care less about the 20 mallards sitting in their slough. Be respectful, bring a gift as a thank you, maybe some fish filets or some fresh baked goods from the mrs (money looks bad, like you're trying to buy their game) and leave their property in better shape than you found it.

You will NOT get permission to hunt any private land anywhere near Lakeville. Find WMAs WPAs or other legally accessible land or water. I spent a decade knocking doors in that area, offering labor, money you name it. I only got permission once, and that was only if I was willing to pay more than the current guys. The price was mind boggling. Find public land or make friends with someone who already has permission

I Tried to find a good spot at a WMA last weekend. It really didn't go well for me. I suppose Ill try a bit harder next time.

I used to live in New Prague, and have had luck between there and Lakeville asking farmers if they wouldn't mind me hunting their land, as recently as last fall (Farmington.)
