Gordie
I am about at wits end with this wheeler its a 1986 Honda TRX 200. I rebuilt the motor and it fired right up and ran great then a couple of days later I installed a new starter solenoid and started it up and it ran great, then all of a sudden it died. NO SPARK... so I changed the coil, still no spark then I changed CDI and no spark ,then installed a stator. still no spark... Any Ideas for what to check next? I have gone threw the wiring and it all tests out good. I will be testing the ignition switch tonight but last time I checked it,it was good. I have had this machine to a guy that is very experienced in hindas and he was stumped as well... Might be time to part it out
Surface Tension
Check the kill switch. Where did you get the stator and did it come with a pulsar coil? You can test your old coil and stator to see if indeed there was a bad component. You should be able to find the values in a repair manual or online somewhere.
IL Res
Agree w/ Surface Tension. It sounds like its grounded out. I would go thru power supply from battery to ignition. A 12V tester is very useful for diagnosis.
Gordie
Surface Tension I had the stator and pulse coil installed buy the guy that looked at it. Honda has no test for the CDI for this model. there is an 11 point test that I have to do according to the manual and then I will be going threw each and every wire on Friday night along with testing the switches. Then the next thing will be tearing the motor down and checking the timing chain ...I hope it doesn't go that far.
