Waubay and Roy Lake, SD ???

Hello, heading up to Roy Lake Resort for along weekend for the second year for a fall trip. Last year it was 70 degrees when I left and snow in the boat that night. Fishing was tough, but we managed some smallies on Clear Lake and a few walleye on crank baits. Looking to branch out and try Waubay, Enemy Swim or Bitter. Mainly after smallies and two keeper walleyes for walleye fingers and Windsor for happy hour. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Normally use some plastics, too, but it was really windy last year.

Bitter has had a good bite most of the past year and is one of my favorites during the winter. If you're only looking for a few walleyes for walleye fingers, I'd hit Waubay and pull crankbaits. Check with one of the bait shops in the area, but the Grenville area is always a good bet in the fall for some walleyes.

Only fished em in the fall. Both are good. I'd give Clear the edge. It's always windy when I go. Roy has a few more bays to get out of the wind. Got a few bonus walleyes on Roy and big crappies on Clear while drop-shotting-- kinda weird. Charlie's Resort doesn't look flashy, but has great grub.

Bitter and Waubay are always good for walleyes. It has been a few years but we always stayed at The Roost. If I remember correctly, it is on the North end of Waubay in Grenville. It is the cheapest place you will find and has a pool table in one of the garages (probably because it was the only level building on site). I don't know if they still do it, but they used to have free liquor for their guests (you mentioned looking for Windsor). Although we were mostly chasing walleyes, we did catch a few nice brown bass and crappies out of Enemy Swim.
