Snow geese and white suits?

Recommended Posts

Yes. I've even done it hunting honkers.

When in NoDak, I set my spread of honkers upwind about 50-70 yards of a large spread of snow goose rags. I hide in the snow geese wearing either a white jump suit, or covered by a white bed sheet.

If we get snows moving thru we have a landing area inside the snow goose decoy spread, and if the honkers are checking us out they typically swing right over the snow goose spread downwind of the dark goose decoys. The Canadian geese fly overhead without even looking down at the snow goose spread, right over the top of us. They are usually lazer focused on the upwind dark goose spread.

Works like a charm as long as the wind cooperates. Can be a real pain if the wind shifts mid-hunt.

Get the painter suits from a hardware store and you can just throw them away afterwards. No sense in setting up your blind as that is one more thing for the geese to spot. Build a little backrest with a seat on it to get you up off the ground and give you something to lean on. They sell these too but they are pretty simple to build. I have used a boatpad for a seat and a blind bag for a backrest but it isn't quite as comfy. A face mask is highly recommended when wearing whites because your face is real shinny. Place some socks a little higher off the ground close to where you are sitting to help with concealment and you are set. Lastly share some pics after the hunt!

Thanks for the info guys! I have some white painter suits I planned on using, I use to just lay on the ground and throw burlap over me and if I was lucky enough to be in a field with swath rows I would lay in those. Snows are the trickiest birds I ever had to hunt, I only have around 200 decoys, but they are all shells and full bodies. It has been 10 years since I hunted Canada, college and growing up put a damper on things. I leave Oct 4 and return the 14th so hope to report back with some good news!
