Humminbird 787c2 not recognizing GPS receiver

MikeG3Boat

Question

My Humminbird 787 is not recognizing GPS receiver. I have troubleshoot down to the unit by doing the following.

1. Hooked up different Humminbird to plug ins for 787 and the other Humminbird sees GPS.

2. Moved 787 to where other Humminbird was and connected it didn't recognize any GPS.

So GPS wiring is fine to both locations but only 787 doesn't see GPS.

Anyone ever had this problem? With unit? What did you do? Humminbird said I should take it to a certified tech to have it repaired. I am wondering if anyone has fixed this type of issue?

Any help is much appreciated. I hate to pay someone if it is a simple fix.

I just had the same issue, you can read down on the thread below... i have a 597 and i kept getting an error message that the internal GPS was "unconnected".

Do you have an internal GPS and are you getting the same message? I had to bite the bullet and send it in yesterday... $192!!!!!!!!!
