Hello Motorguide

Looks like a decent product but to me kind of a let down as to Motor guide never really moved forward with technology. They matched minn kota and improved a few things but no real game changer and if history repeats itself like it usually does motor guide will update again ten years from now by that time minn kota will have 10 brand new amazing features

I sure wish one of them would make a motor that would follow an actual depth, not from a map chip. Now that would be my next motor.
Me too. Motorguide does own the pantents that Pinpoint had from years ago. This trolling motor actually did follow depth. It had several (5 I think) transducers built into the motor housing and it could follow a depth. Bob Mehsikomer (musky guy) used these exclusively on his shows back in the day.

It was definitely ahead of its time. The cost was enourmous. I believe they were like $2000 and this was probably 20 years ago.

So, with motorguide buying this stuff the hope is there it could be brought back. If it was produced at larger volumes it undoubtedly could be cheaper.

I absolutely would find this much more useful than just following a contour on a map chip, because those are not that precise in the first place.

Now following a trail or course I put down? That is useful.

It is great that two companies are offering something similar. The iPilot really took control of your boat to a new level.
