Rechargable ones. Back when i used my H20 i would be very concerned with battery consumption...I got a bunch of rechargeables and never looked back. You get your money out of them. Bout the only thing i use batteries for anymore are AAA's for my headlights and i just buy regular batteries with how infrequently i have to change them.

Rechargeable are fine if you use the device often enough to stay on top of charging the batteries. However, most rechargeable batteries self-discharge considerably faster than standard alkaline batteries so if you don't use the device very often you may find it dead or low anyway.

Provided you want to go with rechargeable, I recommend Sanyo eneloop rechargeables. They have done something with these that greatly reduces the self-discharge rate. I bought two pair of AA to use in a camera and I've been very satisfied with their operating capacity and the fact that when the batteries in use go dead, the other pair still has most of the charge left in them. That is unlike the previous pair that when the in-use batteries finally went dead, the other pair was already pretty low just due to self-discharge.

They are Ni-MH and if investing in good rechargeables also invest in a good charger of the proper type. I have one from Maha Energy that does a discharge cycle and multi-stage pulse-type conditioning charging. About $35 for the charger.
