What do you use for a layout tool for the long axis?

My layout tool for the butt wraps is the typical one with a grooved board to locate the rod blank with another board on edge to place a straight edge against it for marking the centers. I'm not aware of anything else that can do the same thing are you?

Some people use the BV technique where you use the reflection of a work light find the center of the blank.

Just curious how you do it

I do use the light reflection to my advantage when packing and for guide layout.
