Question

So I just bought a humminbird 958c hd di got it all installed and went to the system status page and the only thing that says is connected is ipilot and temp. I have no gps have checked over and over again the wiring and connections and nothing. Had it out on the lake and installed the Navionics north card and nothing? This is a brand new unit has the 6.610 software which is whats current. Any ideas?

I believe this unit is supposed to come with preloaded contour maps also? That is nowhere to be seen. And anyone that has this unit is there supposed to be a navigation operation mode in the main menu options? Is it possible I got a faulty unit?

It sounds to me like either a bad puck (not really that likely) or possibly a software or networking issue. Go to menu menu and move over to the last page, then scroll down and open up the second window. Take a look at the GPS and see if you need to click a different option.

Nav menus won't come up without GPS connected. There will be a basemap, but I don't think it will have contours. Which GPS module came with that unit? (You may need to take it off and look on the bottom side). I'm thinking it comes with a AS GRP.. I would disconnect the Ethernet cable till you get the unit up and running
