Ideal water temp for trolling with crawler harnesses....

for walleye. I've heard different temps from as low of 40 to there not effective till the water temp is in the 60's.

I did well on opener with crawler rigs. Sucker or Minnow rigs were working well at that time also. I think water temp was mid 40's. This weekend on Koronis, leeches took way more fish than crawlers.

I think the general wisdom states that you should wait until later in the year, but I've caught them in May on blades and harnesses. I'd definitely bring some along and give them a try if you're heading out soon.

I don't know if it's ever too cold for spinners and crawlers if the water isn't frozen,
