If I use the navionics app in Canada will I be using up data on my limited plan? Would there be a different service charge to use it? I think my phone calls are $.99/minute outside the US.

As long as you download the map details before you leave and you turn off the map overlay feature, then you do not need cell service for the app to work. It only requires a GPS signal.
