Has anyone dealt with one of these in your dog and if so could you share your experience?   I’m 99% sure my dog has one and I understand there is a myriad of treatment options, everything from letting it go, to major surgery.  I’d like to be a little prepared with some knowledge before I bring him in.

Just want what’s best for my little buddy.

Thanks

my neighbor's dog had one. if you even came close to touching that side of the dog's head she'd yelp and run.

neighbor let it go, as the dog was pretty old and surgery was a pretty expensive. I don't remember the $$$, but I know it was too much for a 13 year old golden.

It healed up on it's own in a couplefew months.

Had a lab that got them a number of times... usually let it go and it would resolve itself on it's own. One time I had it drained, it came back fairly quickly... after a half dozen times over a couple of years it corrected itself permanently... she had a gorgeous cauliflower ear after her body healed up whatever was causing it, but who cares about that?

Good Luck!

Thanks guys, I think I might have caught it quick enough that surgery can hopefully be avoided. Got him on some medication now and after a day it seems like the swelling has gone down.

I remembered that he had a tick on that ear so I wonder if its maybe related.
