Aluminum Boat Cleaning

Flatlander77

Question

Any recommendations for products which could be used on aluminum boats for removal of water spots, general cleaning, and polishing/waxing? I own a Lund Fisherman and am uncertain as to what products one could use to clean the painted finish and give nice showroom finish.

Looking for that new boat shine the first time out!

It's time consuming but I use alum wheel polish to clean my Tracker, I apply it with a scotch cleaning pad let it dry to a haze and then buff it off and follow with a white terry cloth to polish. Does a great job of removing the scum line and water marks, nice shine and it leaves a finish on it to make it a tad easier the next time. I have found nothing that is a quick fix and if someone has a better way I am all ears! Usually takes an afternoon to get it done.

I use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, and spray the boat after I get it home... water spots disappear. Good wash with car soap, and I wax it with either Meguiar's paste or Starbrite Boat Polish with Teflon, which also works well on the aluminum , too.

There is a product I tried last year after a summer on the river called JJV's Best, this stuff realy does work good. Otherwise SeaSence has a decent product line out thst will get the job done but it's a lot more elbow work .
