Power washing is a fast solution which I have done many times. The only drawback is the amount time needed to get it dried out.

I have also used spray on type carpet cleaner, then like household carpet, let it dry and use a wet/dry vac to clean it up. For example this spring I found one of my rod locker was left closed over the winter and was not dried out. It was full of mold. I used carpet cleaner and 409, vac'd it up and it was dry within an hour or so.

Scrubbing bubbles! I bought boat from the father in law and said he tried cleaning out an oil stain with everything he could think if. I bought some scrubbing bubbles along with a small wheel brush sprayed it all down, scrubbed with the brush, and the sprayed it out. By using the brush the carpet came back to life so I did the whe boat. Left the boat outside for a a couple days and put fans in the compartments to dry her out. Took some time but worked great. Needless to say I now always have scrubbing bubbles on hand.

Quarter car wash, crank the trailer jack up all the imbedded sand raises out of the carpet and washes to the back of the boat. Vacuum it up when it drys. Carpet then looks and smells great.

I do a combo of most of the above. First thing I do is vacuum, then use an oxy type cleaner and pressure wash it out. Shop vac it out and it's like new. I can do my 20' boat in about a half hour. I will give my boat a full detail about once a month and it sure makes the quick cleanups easy if you never let it get real dirty.

I scrub mine a couple times a year, mid-year and end of season, in the driveway using a concrete scrub brush on a stick and a bucket of soapy water. Rinse, dry in the sun, then vacuum.

The brush helps lift the carpet back up.

I'll have to try the oxy-clean stuff next time.
