Night fishing Bass

So last summer out on Tonka while fishing muskies we must have boated 4-5 largemouths every night on Super Models (Double 13 Colorado bladed bucktails)it was crazy. Bass that were 16 inches were just hammering a bait the size of themselves.

I also had a time a few years back in early September we were bass fishing, and the fishing was unreal in the evening on a shallow inside weededge. So we just kept on fishing well into the night with spinnerbaits. We must have caught 60 bass in a matter of a few hours throwing spinnerbaits after dark.

So does anyone "target" bass after dark? Or are these just two freak occurences?

I used to fish at night a lot. Don't as often these days but only because I'm just not that mad at them anymore.

I fished at night mostly on very clear lakes, and often when it was blazing hot and clear during the day, especially in August and early September. Crayfish really come out after dark, and weedlines and weed flats can be awesome after dark.

Spinnerbaits are kind of the classic night bait, and a black single spin does work very well. Crankbaits work really well too. But a lot of nights, believe it or not, a black jig was far and away the most productive, especially on deep coontail and cabbage edges. Have to get over the mental hurdle of fishing something relatively quiet at night, but they can find them just fine.
