Chamberlain spawn is on

Just had a great trip to Chamberlain. Easy to catch walleyes up on the rocks near town pitching jig and plastics or minnows up on the rocks and slow roll back to the boat. Caught many big girls up spawning (still swimming now) and the males were milking pretty good. Bite should be good for a week or so yet, but colder weather coming in might make conditions tougher for that kind of fishing-

Is the river open in Chamberlain yet this spring.

Wide open. Some docks in already too at the ramps. I was out there Sunday and it was pretty slow, but that was shore fishing. The bite has been more consistent up at Ft. Thompson.

To answer the question, yes, the river is completely open as far as you can see south of town. American creek campground and marina ramps are open and docks in. Fast water and dock by the pillars are open at the dam. Not sure on the marina dock at the dam if the ice is gone inside the donut or not.

Could anyone recommend a decent Hotel/Motel other then the big red roof one across the river?

We like Lee's motor lodge in Chamberlain. Nothing fancy, but it is clean, reasonable and has plug ins for the boat.
