Driftless
Trout and warm water open on the same day. The trout streams will be over run by folks looking to harvest a few trout. The rest will be after pike and walleye. I traditional stay home the opener because of pressure on the streams and river. You will find me Monday about 10am below the dam in Gays Mills. The dam there is the first one on the Kickapoo River. Large walleye are typical caught in the first 2 weeks of season there. There is the occasional monster pike caught there too. The key for these walleye and pike is to throw something out of the ordinary at the beasts. Also remember to size up your line and rods some you are equipped properly. After a couple hours there then I will hit the trout streams and catch a couple small to medium browns for a traditional meal.
