My wheeler has been running fine all winter. Parked it outside about 3 weeks ago to make some room in the garage. The other day when I moved it, I had to rev it very high to get it moving forward or reverse. It feels like the brake is on. Is this a clutch issue and and are there any simple things I can check before I haul it into the shop?

Sounds to me like your belt is wet. Pull the drain plug on the belt cover and see if water comes out. If so driving will dry it out and keep it from slipping. If that's not it then it isbeyond my skill level .

is it making any popping or backfiring when you rev it?

What happends if you put it in Neurtral and rev does it run out ok?

simple things to check:

parking break applied?

wet belt?

reverse override button stuck?

It sat through a couple of good rains so it makes sense that it might be wet.

I am betting something is wet with the CDI or other connection causing it to act up. I would let everything dry out first before you start tearing into anything and see if it goes away.
