Spare prop

Recently we purchased a new boat so now comes the fun of filling it. I am looking for a back up prop or even a new one. It a 2004 merc. 60hp 2stroke. I found a prop in the back shed with the numbers 11p I am assuming it is the pitch degree. I can't make out the rest of the numbers. If the prop is the same size and the teeth line up could it be used even though the pitches are different degrees?

I guess that I'm in the realm of if it fits, give it a try. The worst that you can do is over-rev the engine so just keep an eye on the tach if you've got one. If not, pay attention to the sound of the motor with the stock prop at full throttle, and make sure that you don't exceed that sound with your backup/shed prop.

I have two props for my main motor. The backup is two drops in pitch for when I'm fishing with multiple folks, transporting gear across the lake, or pulling skiers/tubers. So my backup pulls double-duty since I actually use it in contrast to my stock prop

The different pitch will not hurt the motor if you watch the rpm's but make sure that the prop fits your prop shaft correctly! You could do a lot of damage if it is not made to fit your motor!

You can buy a brand new aluminum prop (Black Max) with the flo torq hub kit for like $100. That way you get the pitch you need and it fits.
