early season night fishing?

Anyone do it? Me and a few buddies plan on getting out at midnight on opener due to a brothers grad party at noon on saturday. I personally have never done it that early in the season so I'm not sure on where to start. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

midnight start on opener is one of the few times i leave my headlamp on while nightfishing so i can be sure to see any fish that might be around. i hit my best classic spots with classic baits and figure out if i want to come back on anything at first light.

i still have yet to catch a fish before sunup on opener but locating them and coming back has paid off for us the last few years.

if no action i'm usually trolling by sunup.
