quantam code

I have never actually fished with the Code but checked it out at some stores. To be honest with you, I dont like the way it feels. I felt like that the reel should have been a lot more smooth for what it claimed to be. The handle felt a little loose. But the reel feels comfortable in the palms and looks pretty neat. Read some reviews online and you got some good ones and bad ones in the mix. Dick's should have it in stores, go check em out! For the price range, I rather go with something else.

I bought one on sale not as a bass reel but as a walleye reel for bottom bouncers - I like reels with flipping switches for bouncers since you can let out more line without having to re-engage the reel. It does an adequate job at that but I don't think it's a reel I'd want to use every day. Lot of slop in the components, the handle knobs are basically hard plastic (really slippery when they get wet) very limited settings on the magnetic cast control... All in all just feels like a cheap reel.

For about 20 bucks more, you can get either a Pflueger Trion or a Lews Speed Spool which I think would be far better reels. The Lews is very very solid, and Steve Quinn at the In-Fisherman claims the Trions are indestructible. Hear good things about the Pro Q too, but never owned or held one.

My $.02

i am kind of a quantum guy but have never used a code. i have read lots of good things about the pro-qualifier. BPS puts them on sale several times a year, and has many different ratios to choose from.

They're on sale now. I think I'll go with the bps pro qualifier. Thanks for all the opinions.
