Tom Sawyer
Don't be afraid to mix and match plastic profiles and colors with less traditional horizontal jig profiles. Sometimes a vertical jig with a plastic positioned at a right angle, can get the nod when nothing else will.Remember you are trying to "match the hatch" of insects or invertebrates the fish are eating. Jig profile, color, and action are all important to success. A vertical plastic presentation acts and looks way different than a horizontal one. Lakes with tons of freshwater shrimp for example, pounce on vertical offerings.
Brandonk
I went out the other night on a lake south of the metro in search of crappies. I brought a PK flutter fish in a 1/8 firetiger glow to draw attention in murky water. I tipped the terble with larve for a little extra attention. Giving about 8in lifts with slight twitches at the top and bottom of the lift, I pulled in one after another until about 1am when I had to pack up and call it a night. I was very impressed with the results!
amateurfishing
my local lake is interesting, i have a nice little mixed asst of plastics but for some reason nothing gets touched cept orange shrimpo. i have several northland impulse items (even ones ppl recommend on here) and none of the colors or shapes even touch these 3 year old shrimpo or ratzos that i have. plain or for a harder bite with waxies, nothing else works.
