Big Tubes replacement for dawgs?

I like bulldawgs and similar big rubber baits. I've had a few follows and a couple fish. I don't like casting them. They are too heavy.

I'm always trying to think of techniques for my aging father to use that are easier on the body. He can't reel fast enough to keep big blades at the strike/follow speed. He has trouble pulling into a smooth figure 8 and triggering a bite.

I was just looking at the twisted tube. Are these becoming a more easily fished version of a dawg? I would think the hollow cavity and a lighter weight in the front would make a fantastic shallow water jerk/rip bait that has the profile of a dawg but the slowness of a twitch bait.

Does anyone have thoughts on these or care to share their tactics with tube baits?

Tubes would be a great option. I was introduced to tubes two years ago and they are slowly becoming my go to bait. They are a little easier to toss yet you still get the larger profile like a dawg. I fish them very similar to dawgs. But remember, always change it up, and making contact with structure is always a good thing. Hope that helps!

Like all baits they have their time and place but not a replacement for any bait... Even similar baits to Dawgs sometimes work better then somedays they only want a Dawg... Opening week last year pounders is all that the fish were interested in, saw nothing on mags...
