Skid Loaders

Looking into buying a 642 or smaller Bobcat to landscape my yard. The soil is sand and i'm not looking to do it all in one weekend. Does any body that owns a small skid steer have any opinions lets say like 25 HP. Do they have enough power to shave a couple inches of soil off and spread black dirt?

we have had a Gehl 3310 (20-30hp) for just about as long as i can remember and it has done everything i have asked within reason. you should have no problems with occasional landscaping with a machine this size, just have to remember that it isnt going to move the mountain in one scoop. sometimes the smaller ones are actually handier as far as manuverability and fitting into tighter spots

Slab,

I went through the same deal 11 years ago. Built a new house in the country and did all the landscaping myself and wanted to take me time.

We bought a John Deere 4100 with a front loader. Our thought was to sell it a few years later after all was done. 11 yaers later I still have it. Added a 6' lawnmower deck, 5' rototiller, and several other add ons. It has been the best investment I ever bought and my back is still in good shape.

If you enjoy that type of work any machine will be enjoyable to work with, not just a Deere. It is truely amazing the amount of work these machines can do for you and not to mention the time they can save.

Whatever you get BEWARE of the friends you will have...looking for a little free work! There is a reason I never bought a trailer for mine wink
