Chronarch E vs old Curado E

What is the difference between and old Curado and a new Chronarch besides the color? From what I can tell they share weight, # bearings, handle, shape, etc. The only part numbers that are different are the parts that are painted....

What is different?

I heard that they changed or upgraded the gears, anybody hear about this?

And they both retail(ed) for 200 so the price really didnt go up... You can find the curado E for probably 110-150 nowadays if your lucky. I bought a clearance curadoE from cabelas 2 years ago for 120!

The gear and guts of the 50E's is the same. You could say, it was rebadged as a Chronarch 50E. A few cosmetic parts differences like the drag star and the levelwind line guide. The 200E's are quite different, but you have to look closer to see it, for example a slightly different body tooling.

Actually the Curado 200E retailed for 179.99. Its too bad they got rid of the old (real) Chronarch, that was a SOLID reel.

Sat a little bit high on the reel seat but other than that it was dynamite.

The only problem with the old Chronarch D's were that the smooth hatch side plate was held by a rubber O'ring that would sometimes allow for the side plate some room to move during a fish fight, depending on how one holds the reel and applies leverage. It really is a well performing reel.
