Strikemaster Magnum Problem

holmsvc

Question

Well I was out drilling holes with me Strikemaster Magnum this afternoon and half way through a hole my auger stopped turning and the powerhead started to make a rattling and grinding sound. I pulled that auger out and shut it off. I started the auger up and it starts and runs fine. If I hit the throttle it turns fine until I put any downward pressure on it then it rattles/grinds and the auger stops spinning. Did I strip some gears? Any other idea what the issue would be?

Clutch isn't locking up because your not getting enough RPMs under load.

Carb adjustment and probably could be leaned out a little bit. Turn the mixture screw in clockwise. Best if you have an assistant to help. Start the auger and let it warm up.

Hold the throttle wide open while you have assistant slowly turn the mixture screw in till you hear the engine run at its highest RPM. If you turn in beyond that come back out till it get it at max RPM. Once you have it there you want to turn the screw out till it just starts to drop in RPMs. Leave it there. You shouldn't be running too lean at WOT and be good to go for cold starts. This might have changed your idle speed so set the idle stop screw till it idles good.
