duck hunting west of metro

Could anyone help me out with a few places to duck hunt west of Maple Plain? I would like to take my boy out during Oct. when he is out of school for a few days. I am new to duck hunting a could use some help finding public access away from the crowds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ken

Pope county is usally a good area for waterfowl. There is a good site that shows photos of Fed land or the DNR Rec. compass.
Another way on the DNR Rec. Compass is to find a local lake and click on the "Red Dot" this will show the landing area and a photo of the lake. Look for a lake with cattails and very few houses (providing you have a boat).

go to gander mountain or another sporting goods store and get a PRIM map for the area you wish to hunt. they have help'd me out alot when i started looking for new places a few years ago. they are very detailed and tell you everywhere public in that area with good maps to get you there. good luck.........loc9

Goose Lake west of ST Bonni used to be ok for late season.I know there is a lot of hunters there though, so get up real early!
Has a good boat access, and is a fair sized lake.
