Those Cold Snap cover look like a good cover for any auger.

The magnets work but be careful where you place the magnets. When seated you don't want them coming in contact with the edge of the blade. Even then you have to be give some thought when putting the cover on so your edge doesn't hit the magnet.

A few coats of plastic dip or duct tape over the magnets will give some protection from the occasional bump.
