Try doing a search for "American Water Spaniels". There are a couple of kennels in Minnesota and Wisconsin that specialize in these dogs. I am kinda thinking of looking into one when my current lab starts to falter. Looking a smaller pooch for in the canoe (as I age, I worry about my heart while crossing rough water with 100 lbs of shivering lab in the canoe).
