Need advice on a ice fishing trip please.

The wife and I would like to take a trip this year. We usually head up to lake of the wood. Funds are a little low this year so we were thinking of doing a shorter, cheaper, trip. Maybe Mille Lacs? Not sure. We live in Waconia and I have all the equipment for a portable. We were thinking of a place on Mille Lacs that we could stay at a hotel and just drive out. Anyone have any suggestion’s??

it depends on what side you want to go out from. on the west/northwest side(garrison) I would talk to twin pines. they offer a nice package deal for fishing in one of their rental houses and staying in one of their motel rooms.this deal is for sunday - thursday, on a weekend it might be a little higher call linda the owner and talk to her. it includes breakfast and dinner for each of you. if you didn't want to use their fish house you could just rent a room from them. the last report I heard from them is the ice is like 10 to 12 inches thick right now and they were shuttling people to and from their fish houses.
