Federal vs. Winchester

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why a box of Federal Heavy High Velocity (3", 1.25oz, 1450fps, steel) costs $10 and the same shells are $20 for Winchester Supremes. I have been using Supremes for a few years (and they have worked great), but I simply can't pass up the same shell for half the price. Am I missing something?

It sounds like a promotional offer to me. High-end Federal shells are generally good shells. 1450 is a very heavy load for 1 1/4 oz shot, they probably kick like a mule but should do a great drop of dropping birds. Most factory rounds are much lower velocity.

Are the high end Federal's water proof. I have had the cheap ones misfire after stepping in over my boots. Never really had a problem with dryloks. There are some good rebates on winchesters right now.
What do you guys think of Kent Fasteel It is cheap and fast. 1550fps

I have used Federal for years and the only problem I have encountered is the brass coming off of my 10 gauge shells. I use a Browning gold 10 gauge. I think they had a bad batch. If you can get those 3" for $10.00, you better buy a case! If you buy the faster shells it might take you a little while to get used to the lead. I tried reloading my own last year, took a while to get used to it. The ones I was reloading were alot faster then you can buy.
